One of the largest foal auctions in Germany traditionally takes place during the Westphalia Week in Münster-Handorf. Over two days, a total of around 170 young hopefuls are auctioned off under the hammer of Thomas Münch.

This evening's auction kicked off with around 60 foals predispositioned on jumping. The future stars of the show jumping ring shine with a pedigree that promises the best opportunities for the world's great show jumping courses. Internationally successful sires paired with exclusive dam lines were to be found in this lot. This was also recognised by the international customers, who were able to place their bids both live on site and online on their PC at home.

Head number 124 was the top prize of the evening. Ermitano is a son of Ermitage Kalone, who recently won the team gold medal with the Belgian team at the European Show Jumping Championships. He also secured the individual bronze medal with his rider Gilles Thomas. The dam line of this likeable colt bred by Marion Berkemeier, Münster, is no less interesting. His dam is the performance mare Litessa by Lordanos, who also is successful in jumping competitions over 1.40 m. His direct granddam is Callaho's Chabils by Cor de la Bryere, who celebrated successes for the Netherlands in international 1.60 m jumping competitions. He changed hands for the top price of 22,000 euros.

The most popular filly of the evening was the head number 115 United's Kiss. The filly, bred by Franz Herking, Gronau-Epe, shines with a pedigree that could hardly be better. She is a daughter of United Touch S, who recently became individual European Show Jumping Champion with Richard Vogel in the saddle. Her dam's sire Montender was also a double European champion under the saddle of Marco Kutscher. The dam of this foal is also very special. The St.Pr.St. Midsummer Kiss was successful in jumping competitions over 1.50 m under the saddle of Kendra-Claricia Brinkop. Customers from Switzerland, who placed their bids online, secured this powerful filly at the hammer price of 21,000 euros.

A total of 54 of the foals on offer found a new owner that evening. With a total turnover of 543,000 euros, the international clientele invested an average of 10,056 euros in their young horses. 24 of the foals sold realised a hammer price of 10,000 euros or more. Customers from near and far took a liking to the young Westphalian talents. In the end, two of the foals sold will soon be at home outside Germany.
