Association of Westphalian Horse Breeders
Modern breeding association with over 100 years of breeding and success story
The history of the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch e.V., founded in 1904, spans a proud 120 years - a time of change and the future of horse breeding. From small beginnings, the association has developed into a modern breeding association as an umbrella organisation for Westphalian breeding families, breeding facilities and stud farms, which today represents the interests of over 8,500 members in 24 districts and embodies the Westphalian idea of horse breeding. We are "at home" in Münster-Handorf, where the office is embedded in the horse and event centre of the Westphalian association.
Quality is important to us !
We live and promote horse breeding in Westphalia and advise our members, including breeders - whether beginners or professionals - owners, riders and horse lovers, on all questions and issues relating to breeding, training and marketing. In addition, our association is responsible for defining and implementing breeding programmes, registering foals, issuing breeding certificates and maintaining the stud book. Breeding events such as stallion licensing, elite shows, registration and registration dates for foals and mares are just as much a part of our everyday life in Westphalia as the promotion of sales of breeding horses, riding horses and foals at auctions or direct sales.
With a continuous focus on diversity and the endeavour to constantly improve the health and quality of horse breeding, we have continued to develop: Whether riding horse, cold blood, riding pony, Haflinger, Shetland, Welsh or more exotic breeds such as Dülmener and Camargues. Today, we register and market horses and ponies of various breeds not only throughout Germany, but also far beyond the country's borders.
Over the course of time, huge horse databases have been created from paper card indexes, and the traditional burning of horses has now been transformed into state-of-the-art registration techniques. We have grown from small, local auctions to impressive auction halls with a wide audience, from local events to hybrid live events with bids from all over the world. But through all these changes, one constant has remained and will remain:
Our love for Westphalian horses.
Just like our passion for what we do and our close ties to Westphalian breeders and horse people. With our skills, our knowledge and our expertise, we are always at your disposal. Our Westphalian team looks forward to accompanying you on the path of breeding, training, presenting and marketing your Westphalians.
