Münster: In cooperation with the Zhashkiv Stud in the Ukraine, the Westphalian Studbook once again organised a youngster auction. 15 unridden mares were up for sale at this auction. All of them are characterised by a close connection in their pedigree to the star sire of the stud: Cornet Obolensky. At today's auction, all of the young horses on offer found a new owner at an average price of 11,183 euros.
Cornet Obolensky is a globally sought-after sire. In Westphalia, the Belgian stallion has influenced show jumping breeding like hardly any other in recent decades. The grey stallion, who is marketed by the Ligges station in Ascheberg-Herbern, is owned by the Zhashkiv stud farm in the Ukraine. The Westphalian Studbook has been organising an auction in cooperation with the stud for many years now, in which direct and indirect offspring of the successful stallion bred by the stud are offered for sale.
The auction candidates offered at this auction were also extremely popular. All 15 mares found a new owner that evening. With a total turnover of 167,750 euros, the youngsters realised an average price of 11,183 euros. Seven of the mares sold realised a hammer price of over 10,000 euros. Five of the horses sold will remain in the Ukraine. Ten are travelling to Germany or other countries.
The most popular offer of the evening was head number 7, Cornet's Amy, a direct daughter of Cornet Obolensky. Her dam is the performance and state premium jumping mare Amelita by Cantus. She is the half-sister to the internationally successful show jumpers Mach and Name it. This is also the dam line of the Cantus son Calvaro, who was internationally successful for Switzerland in Nations Cups and took part in the European Championships and the Olympic Games. The powerful jumping grey mare was sold to regular customers in the Ukraine this evening for 24,000 euros.
There will be another auction with Zhashkiv Stud this autumn. This upcoming auction will feature young, unridden stallions whose pedigree is also closely linked to the popular Cornet Obolensky. The date of the auction will be announced in good time on the website of the Westphalian Studbook.
