Münster: The German Amateur Championships are being held at the Westphalian Horse Center for the sixth time. An OnLive foal auction took place on Saturday evening as part of the event. 37 talented young horses born in 2025 were up for sale. 84 per cent of them changed hands at an average price of around 8,000 euros. The highest price was achieved by Total Power, a son of Total PS/Viva Gold, who was sold for 19,500 euros.

Once again, Germany's best amateur riders are meeting in Münster-Handorf this weekend to determine their champions. An OnLive foal auction was also integrated into the event again. Nineteen dressage-oriented foals, fifteen jumping-oriented foals and three riding pony foals were up for sale this Saturday evening.

The highest attention from the expert audience was attracted by head number 21, Total Power by Total PS (breeder and exhibitor: Bernd Goeke, Hamm). His dam, St.Pr.St. Viva Finess by Viva Gold, is none other than the full sister to the champion stallion of the Westphalian Main Licensing, V-Power. The impressive stallion changed hands at the 2022 stallion market for 1.2 million euros. The popularity of the bay colt in this foal auction was already evident this afternoon in the final phase of pre-bidding. He went into the auction this evening with a starting bid of 8,000 euros. Bids from America, Germany and Switzerland were received online. In the end, a customer from Switzerland had the most staying power and secured this high-quality young hopeful for 19,500 euros.

Again and again, Senorita Meyer: The state premium mare, who has appeared so often in the pedigrees of high-priced Westphalian auction foals, is the direct dam of the Bundeschampion Fynch Hatton. Tonight, she was the granddam of head number 6 Bonjour III by Bonds/Franziskus (breeder and exhibitor: Bernhard Ilting-Reuke, Borken). Two of her full siblings have already been sold at top prices at the Westphalian Auction in recent years. This liver chestnut filly with her powerful movements also impressed in the previous presentations with her performances. She changed hands at a hammer price of 17,500 euros, thus achieving the second-highest bid of the evening.

All three pony foals offered found new owners this evening. Gregory Peck BU by Gold Garant/A new Star I (breeder and exhibitor: Nadine Schnell, Lippetal) was worth 6,000 euros to his new owners. In addition, the small German riding horse with head number 26, Rivers Design by Rivers Dancing AS/Franziskus (breeder and exhibitor: Petra Möllenhoff, Lippetal), changed hands for 6,250 euros.

Among the jumping-oriented auction candidates, head number 2 Casallino (breeder and exhibitor: Pferdezucht Blüggel, Hamm) was particularly popular. The Casallco son, who came from an embryo transfer mating, impressed in all his appearances. His direct dam is highly successful in show jumping competitions up to medium level and once placed at the Bundeschampionat. This direct dam line has also produced numerous show jumpers that have achieved international successes in the highest classes. Customers at the auction ground in Münster-Handorf secured this talented young hopeful for future show jumping competitions at a hammer price of 11,500 euros.

"It has almost become a tradition for the German Amateur Championships to take place in Münster-Handorf at the end of September. The Westphalian Horse Centr offers perfect conditions as a venue. The integration of a foal auction into this event has also proven successful in recent years. Riders can secure promising young horses fort he future here," says auction and sales manager Thomas Münch, emphasising the value of the event in Münster-Handorf.
