Westphalia is horse country. Horse breeding and equestrian sport are as strong in hardly any other region as here. Both of your associations are celebrating an anniversary this year: The Equestrian Sports Association of Westphalia, founded in 1924. V. has existed for 100 years, the Westphalian Horse Stud Book e.V. was founded in 1904. V. is 120 years old. Both are at home in the Westphalian Horse Center on Sudmühlenstrasse in Münster-Handorf and, on the occasion of the double anniversary, are looking more forward than back. “The Future of Horses” is the name of the festival that both associations are celebrating publicly here on the weekend from July 12th to 14th.
The three-day anniversary festival brings together the entire spectrum of the Westphalian horse world in a fascinating variety at the spacious facility in Münster-Handorf. Westphalia's horse breeding and equestrian sport are regionally rooted and repeatedly achieve great international success. The highlight is the gala show on Saturday (July 13th), with which the Westphalian Horse Stud Book and the Westphalia Equestrian Sports Association will put 120 years of breeding and 100 years of sport in a special light. Impressive show acts, fascinating quadrilles and emotionally touching memories of famous two- and four-legged Westphalians combine historical moments with the present and a look into the future.
