Westphalian main licensing for riding pony stallions 2024
Münster: The second weekend of Advent at the Westphalian Horse Centre was all about riding pony and small horse stallions. The licensing decisions for the stallions of the Welsh, Dülmener, Shetland and German Partbred Shetland Pony and American Miniature Horse breeds were already made on Saturday. Out of 47 riding pony stallions, 31 received a favourable approval after the final free-running and free-jumping test on Sunday. Six dressage-orientated and four jumping-orientated stallions were awarded a premium. The title of Champion Stallion of the dressage-orientated riding pony stallions was secured by a Komplett/A new Star I NRW son.

An eventful licensing week came to an end in Münster-Handorf on Sunday afternoon with the honouring of the winning riding pony stallions. Six of the licensed dressage stallions were specially honoured with a premium in front of a great audience. The winning sash in the premium lot was secured by a Westphalian Komplet/A new Star I NRW son bred by ZG Bernhard and Ines Biederbeck, Marsberg and exhibited by Jill Mieleszko-Vekens, Paderborn. The typey black stallion impressed the licensing committee with his harmonious side profile, ground-covering walk, elastic trot work, active hindquarters and expressive uphill canter. The public's favourite will be stabeled at the Mieleszko-Vekens station in Paderborn with the characteristic name Komet.
Three further premium stallions were selected for the final ring. Firstly, a strong-moving Dating AT/Dance for me NRW son (breeder: Henrik Auhagen, Hagenburg, exhibitor.: Simon Westhues, Gütersloh), who scored with three consistently good presentations and outstanding conformation. Secondly, a Double Cream son with a brilliant type out of a dam by Cyriac WE, who is none other than a half-brother to the multi-champion Cosmo callidus NRW. The strong stallion was bred by Bernd Sabel, Herzlake. Adri Cedric Rothenberger, Bad Homburg, exhibited him. The trio of premiums in the final ring was completed by a Dreidimensional I AT NRW/FS Champion de Luxe son bred by Reinhold von der Sande, Bocholt. The typey and dynamic bay was exhibited by Adolf-Theo Schurf, Bedburg.
Four premium stallions represent a strong jumping lot
The four premium stallions of the pleasingly large jumping lot were also celebrated with great applause in Handorf. These included a sporty son of Der kleine Donner H out of a Westphalian mare by Stakkato Gold (breeder: Gestüt Hufenstuhl, Lindlar; exhibitor.: Ponyzucht Hollenbach GbR, Rot am See). In addition, a beautiful and well-constructed grey stallion by Little Milton out of a dam by FS Maracaibo (breeder and exhibitor: Olaf Linneweber, Beckum) secured a premium sash. A Mescal/FS Champion de Luxe son bred and exhibited by Stefan Behrens, Soest, impressed with his attitude and ability and joined the premium lot. This was completed by a large-framed Belgian-bred stallion by Nia Domo's Bolero out of a Solid Gold/Caletto III dam (breeder: Jozef Smits, Belgium; A.: Vink Horses, Netherlands), who impressed with his type and technique.
