Josef Volle had been a member of the Westphalian Horse Stud Book since 1972 and was responsible as a breeder for a total of 471 riding ponies and riding horses. 19 stallions from his breeding received a positive approval rating, including the Nante I son Nantano, who clearly left his mark on German riding pony breeding with 668 offspring. Josef Volle also attracted attention as the breeder of the pony stallion greats Durello, Top Nonstop and the 2009 champion stallion Top Carlos Cassini. From 1988 he was one of the first to use the thoroughbred stallion Marsvogel xx for breeding in riding pony breeding. In addition, 17 of his home-bred mares were awarded the state premium; 196 offspring celebrated sporting successes up to the advanced classes. Josef Volle was a member of the board of the Westphalian Horse Stud Book from 2005 to 2012. He was also a long-time member of various evaluation committees for stallions.
