Mourning for Peter Artmeier

Peter Artmeier from Witten passed away on 9 May 2025 at the age of 71.

The horse connoisseur was successful as a show jumping competitor up to level M. After finishing his riding career, his love of horses led him to breed Westphalian dressage horses.

Peter Artmeier had been a member and delegate for the Ennepe-Ruhr district of the Westphalian Studbook since 1980 and was a dedicated horse breeder with great passion. During this time, he has bred 33 horses under his individual membership - including a licensed stallion, 6 state premium mares and 21 horses that were successful up to advanced (S) level in dressage and medium (M) level in show jumping.

Peter Artmeier probably achieved his greatest breeding success as part of the breeding community with the St. Pr. mare Feine Bella NRW by Fürstenball in 2017, who won the Westphalian Championships in 2020 and the Bundeschampionat in 2021 as the winner of the Elite Show and was sold at a unique auction for over €300,000. Feine Bella NRW is currently continuing her sporting success in the south of Germany.

Peter Artmeier was a founding member of the Bochum-Herne horse breeding association in the 1980s. He was known and appreciated far beyond the borders of the Bochum-Herne, Dortmund and Ennepe-Ruhr districts.

His consistently positive attitude, his constant moderating manner and his friendly interaction with his fellow members made him a very special breeder colleague.

We are losing not only an experienced breeder, but also a valued person and friend. No matter what, Peter always remained positive and knew how to put a smile on people's faces. We will never forget his cheerful nature.
He always focussed most of his attention on his three children, but right after that came the horses!

We mourn with his family,

the districts of Bochum-Herne, Dortmund and Ennepe-Ruhr
