Münster: This afternoon, 43 riding horses, two riding ponies and 17 foals were up for sale at the Westphalian Spring Auction. Of the auction candidates on offer, 82 per cent found a new owner. Three dressage horses broke the magic 100,000 euro mark. The highest-priced offer was the Bonds daughter Belle Amour CN with a hammer price of 115,000 euros. The Conthargos daughter Comtesse du Rouet led the price statistics for show jumpers with a hammer price of 70,000 euros. The most expensive foal, Cool Kid by Cool Touch, changed hands for 24,000 euro.
The auction candidates at the Westphalian Studbook were very popular this afternoon. The dressage horses with the first three head numbers were particularly sought after.
The most sought-after horse in the Westphalian auction hall this afternoon was head number 2, the Reserve Champion Mare of the Westphalian Elite Show 2024, a daughter of the popular sire Bonds, bred and exhibited by Christa Nagelschmidt-Terwort, Wuppertal, out of the St.Pr.St. First April by Franziskus. With above-average basic gaits and rideability that could hardly be any better, Belle Amour CN already won two tests for young riding horses last year. The now four-year-old mare changed hands for 115,000 euros as the top price. There was already a big bang with head number 1, Sternzauber (breeder: August Frerick, Olfen; exhibitor: Jillian Wyrobnik, Wiesbaden), who impressed throughout the auction time with his outstanding rideability issues and good attitude to work. Three outstanding gaits give reason to hope for great things for this son of Sir Heinrich/Don Juan des Hus. This chestnut gelding was sold today at the hammer price of 100,000 euros. His sire Sir Heinrich has already produced several high-priced and now internationally highly successful auction horses in Westphalia, so there are high hopes for Sternzauber in the future.
Head number 3 Va Va Voom (breeder: Jürgen de Baey, Lemgo; exhibitor: Equus Invest AG, Kürten) was also much talked about in the run-up to the auction. The licensed stallion holds the breeding name Viva la Vida. He descents from one of the most successful Westphalian dam lines. The Dodona line has produced numerous internationally successful Grand Prix horses. Among others, Ahlerich, who won the Olympic gold medall with Dr. Reiner Klimke in the saddle and was also once discovered at the Westphalian auction. A Swedish training stable from Flensburg, who placed their bids on site in Münster-Handorf, secured this exceptional stallion for 110,000 Euros.
The show jumpers were also very popular with the audience on site in Münster-Handorf and online on their screens at home. Head number 18, Comtesse du Rouet by Conthargos/Balou du Rouet (breeder: Henk van Wijlick, Netherlands; exhibitor: Heike Pleines, Uedem), became the top priced horse in the show jumping lot. The four-year-old impressed throughout the auction with her great quality and ability at the jump. The genetics of this chestnut mare also made the hearts of the customers beat faster. She is none other than a half-sister to the licensed stallion Dublin by Cascadello I, who is internationally successful in jumping competitions up to 1.55 m under the saddle of Michael Duffy/IRL. The regular customers of the Westphalian Studbook invested 70,000 Euros in this promising young show jumper.
Another show jumper was worth 50,000 euros to his new owners. Balou's Boy (breeder: ZG mit Hercz, Nordhorn; exhibitor: Jan-Hermann Ahuis, Nordhorn) entered the Westphalian auction floor with the head number 20. The son of Baloutaire PS/Chacco's Son II has already been successful in tests for young show jumpers. Now five years old, the high-quality gelding is ready to start the 2025 show season.
Of the 45 riding horses and ponies on offer, 78 percent changed hands that afternoon. With an average price of 32,243 Euros, the Westphalian Studbook generated a total turnover of 1,128,500 Euros. Eleven of the horses sold will continue their careers outside of Germany.
The first foals of the 2025 vintage also ensured an absolute top result. The above metnioned regular customers of the Westphalian Studbook were particularly pleased with the young hopefuls. In addition to the top priced show jumper, they also secured three foals. The head number 112 Cool Kid (breeder and exhibitor: Josef Ruyter, Rees) was most contested. Numerous horses that have been successful in CSI show jumping competitions descent from the direct line of this Cool Touch/Highland White daughter. For example, the licensed stallions Cascadello Boy and Calvaro Z, who were successful in 1.60 m jumping competitions. There was an exciting bidding duel between two parties on site. In the end, the hammer fell at the top price of 24,000 euros. The most expensive dressage-orientated foal will also grow up in the possession of the same customers. Head number 2 was a very special foal for them: Diyon SE is a son of the first vintage of Dark Dynamic. This still young stallion was also sold at a Westphalian foal auction as the top price at the time. Hopes are high for his still young son, bred from the Verb.Pr.St. Fiderallala SE by Franziskus by the ZG Schulze-Elting. He was knocked down at 14,000 euros. Together with the head number 111 For Enjoy W, they secured a total of four of the auction candidates offered today.
The pony foals on offer caused another sensation. The filly with the head number 106 could hardly have been bred better. Two Bundeschampions are united in the pedigree of Golden Princess D (breeder and exhibitor: Danica Duen, Bad Oyenhausen). Sire is the Bundeschampion of 2024 Gold Garant, dam is the champion mare, Westphalian and Bundeschampion of 2020 Herzrose D by Herzkönig NRW. New customers from the Ruhr region secured the filly at the top price of 19,000 euros. The second pony foal with the head number 105 Cokowääh B by Cosmo Royale II (breeder and exhibitor: Dietmar Boom Legden) also enjoyed great popularity. The dam St.Pr. Golden Sunlight B by FS Golden Moonlight is none other than the full sister to the licensed Bundeschampion Golden State. With a hammer price of 11,500 Euros, Thomas Münch knocked his hammer down on the desk. Of the 17 foals on offer, 16 found new owners this afternoon at an average price of 10,412 euro.
