Münster: The Westphalian Stallion Sale following the Westphalian Main Licensing was a great success! Forty-six licensed stallions were successfully auctioned off to new owners on Tuesday afternoon. Most of these young sires will expand the stallion stationss of well-known stud farms. The German state studs were also successful in purchasing new stallions.
The 2023 stallion vintage presented at the Westphalian Main Licensing was very popular amonog the expert audience. This was also reflected in the successful stallion sale, where the licensed stallions achieved a total turnover of around 4.5 million euros. Numerous stallion stations and stud farms took advantage of the opportunity to expand their stallion offerings. The Westphalian Studbook is currently aware of the following new additions to the stations.
As previously reported, both champion stallions, from the dressage and show jumping lots, will move into their new stables at Christoph Wahler's Klosterhof Medingen. Together with long-standing partners, he was able to secure these two stallions for his station. Another young stallion will also be based at Klosterhof Medingen in the future. Later in the auction, Christoph Wahler himself secured head number 100, a son of Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve/C-Indoctro (breeder: H.T.Klomp, Netherlands; exhibitor: Hendrik Zurich, Schüttorf).
The 1st reserve champion of the dressage stallions was purchased at the auction by an investor. The son of Dynamic Dream/Benicio (breeder: Simon Kohlenbrenner, Lienen) will be offered as a sire through the Pape stallion station. Andreas Helgstrand secured the two 2nd reserve champions for his stallion team. One of them is head number 22, a descendant from the first vintage of the former champion stallion Extra Gold. ZG Labohm bred this stallion out of Charmeur's Cherry M by Charmeur and exhibited him at the foal auction during Westphalia Week in the summer of 2023. Bernd Hollmann purchased the foal there and was now the proud exhibitor. The son of Follow Him's Schönweide/De Kooning with head number 31 (breeder: Hedda Ottmann-Droege, Düsseldorf) will also be making the journey to Helgstrand Dressage. The Westphalian chestnut stallion is none other than the half-brother of the currently successful Warendorf state stud stallion Selectric. The son of Feliciano/Sezuan (breeder: ZG Fetzer, Zimmern) with head number 28 has a short journey to his new station. The stallion, whose dam was successful in advanced level dressage competitions and already gave birth to the Oldenburg champion stallion Bon Esprit, will move into his stud box at the Holkenbrink stallion station in Münster-Albachten. The Tebbel stallion station was also able to expand its range of stallions in both dressage and show jumping. The 1st reserve champion of the jumping stallions will be stabled in Emsbüren in the future. The Westphalian son of Nixon van het Meulenhof/Cassini I (breeder: ZG Linnenbrink GbR, Warburg) made his first public appearance at the Westphalian Foal Auction at the showground in Zeiskam. It was here that his exhibitor, Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld, discovered the colt, who is now a powerful jumper. With head number 43, the son of Secret/Belissimo (breeder: Svea Oltersdorf, Lutzhorn) will also be available through the Tebbel stallion station. The Holstein stallion station Maas J. Hell also won a bidding duel. They acquired the beautiful premium stallion with head number 73 by Caressini/Come on (breeder: Gestüt Neuenhof KG, Nideggen).
In addition to the private stations, the German state studs also took a keen interest in the stallions licensed in Westphalia. The Brandenburg State Stud in Neustadt Dosse secured the son of Von und Zu/Don Crusador (breeder: Werner and Iris Bellmann, Ottersberg) in advance. Stud manager Dr Henning Frevert was delighted on Tuesday morning when his new acquisition was awarded the premium title. The North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in neighbouring Warendorf was successful three times in the bidding duels in Münster-Handorf. With a son of Zoom, who is also stationed at the North Rhine-Westphalia State Stud and is successful in Grand Prix sport under the saddle of Helen Langehanenberg, they secured a premium stallion from the dressage lot. The dark bay Westphalian was bred by Christoph Rawert, Coesfeld-Lette, out of his Verb.Pr.St. Elsa by Escolar. This stallion is joined by two talented jumpers who will move into their stalls at the stud in Warendorf. One is head number 74, a Westphalian son of Carrera VDL/Arezzo VDL (breeder: Heinrich Ramsbrock, Menslage), and the other is head number 91, the Westphalian son of F-One USA/Vivant van de Heffinck (breeder: B.J.M. Reuvekamp, Netherlands). The latter was purchased by exhibitor Marc Striewe at the Westphalian Foal Auction as part of the Sudheimer Outdoors event. The second reserve winner among the jumping stallions will move into a box at the Moritzburg State Stud. The son of Emerald van het Ruytershof/Quo Vados I (breeder: PBM Pfefferle GmbH, Mengen) descents from the Holstein performance line 741, whose representatives also include the successful show jumper VDL Cartello.
The Lower Saxony State Stud in Celle also spent the licensing days in Münster-Handorf and had a lucky hand at the auction. They secured the premium stallion with the number 18. The son of Escanto PS/Top Gear was born not far from the Westphalian Studbook. He was bred by Christian Schulze Topphoff, Telgte, who also presented his Westphalian stallion himself. Two stallions are heading south to the Marbach State Stud. The stud was able to expand its range of dressage and show jumping horses at the Westphalian Stallion Sale. They secured head number 52, a Westphalian by Total McLaren/Lord Loxley (breeder: Karl-August Schulte-Varendorff, Ibbenbüren). The bay is none other than the half-brother of For Real, who was also sold at the Westphalian Stallion Market and became the Bundeschampion of three-year-old riding horses the following year. His box neighbour will be head number 101 by Tobago Z/Baloubet du Rouet (breeder: ZG Brüse & Grosmann, Schermbeck).
