Every year in May, the best young equestrian athletes in the disciplines of dressage, show jumping, eventing, and vaulting gather for the "Preis der Besten" (Prize of the Best). Alongside the German Youth Championships, it is the most significant youth competition in Germany and provides the national coaches with an early overview of the current performance levels ahead of the upcoming season and upcoming championships. This year, the Preis der Besten took place from May 16–18, and several Westphalian horses, together with their young riders, celebrated great success.
In the Young Riders dressage category, ZINQ Emma FH NRW by Escolar/Laurentianer (breeder: Winfried Albers), ridden by Lana Pinou Baumgürtel, delivered an outstanding performance. With a total score of 146.737, the pair secured victory in the U21 age group.
In the Children’s show jumping category, Cordijana by Comme il faut NRW/Cordalme Z (breeder: Johannes Jakobs) and her rider Luisa Charlotte Brocks claimed the top spot in the field. With a total score of 88.5, the pair won the U14 age group.
Second place in the overall ranking of the U16 show jumpers went to the Westphalian riding pony mare Miss Mc Fly D NRW by Mc Fly High D/Leuns Veld’s Lord (breeder: Christa Dahlkamp), ridden by Lena-Marie Kraus.
The bronze medal in the Junior show jumping category was won by Pikachu by Plot Blue/Cambridge (breeder: Sportpferde Merschformann GmbH & Co. KG) and Malte Merschformann.
