Heavy Horses from NRW dominate 'Grüne Woche'

The 10th Federal Heavy Horse Show in Berlin was a complete success for the Rhenish-German heavy horses of the Westphalian Studbook. In the competition for 4-6-year-old Rhenish-German mares, the Westphalian representatives achieved a double victory. The national winner was the Westphalian Champion Mare of the Year 2023 Esthel by Edwin / Huckleberry (breeder and rider: ZG Biegel, Harsewinkel). Heliodora by Humphrey / Helmut (breeder: ZG Fuchs, Bad Berleburg; rider: Karen Schalter, Dörrmoschel) secured the national reserve victory. The undisputed winner stallion was the NRW state stud stallion Opalius by Olympus von Wallwitz / Fritz (breeder: ZG Nehnes-Honig, Goch; breeder: NRW State Stud, Warendorf. The champion stallion of the 2023 NRW cold blood licensing outshone his strong competition with a brilliant performance in the Berlin exhibition hall. His dam Fanny by Fritz / Nerlinger (breeder: Franz Boes, Goch; breeder: ZG Nehnes-Honig, Goch) proved that Opalius is not from bad parents, securing the national victory in the old mare category.
