On February 15 and 16, the Equestrian Center in Münster-Handorf was once again the venue for the North German licensing for Haflinger and Haflinger horses. 13 young stallions and three older stallions were judged by the licensing committee.
Among the older stallions, all of whom came to Münster with positive licensing results and successfully passed their stallion performance test, all exhibitors were pleased to have their stallions approved for the Westphalian breeding program.
Ten of the young stallions were presented as part of the Haflinger breeding program, six of which received the coveted breeding approval. In the end, an offspring of Stano out of a dam by Ampere came out on top and secured the title of “Champion Haflinger Stallion”. The youngster, bred and owned by Regina Moritz, Duisburg, scored highly in all three presentations. With a harmonious body and well constructed uphill, he put himself in the limelight with powerful movements in trot and canter. He showed a lot of power from the hind leg not only in movement but also at the jump.
Timo Klei, Kleinich, was delighted with the first reserve winner. His stallion by Noakley BE out of a dam by Acinsano BE set the tone with his well-developed lateral conformation and high quality canter and walk. He showed great balance in all his performances. Both top-ranked stallions will carry the title “Premium Stallion Candidate” in the future.
Third place went to the stallion by Sternkönig liz. 514/T out of a dam by Blickfang. Bred by F.J.C. Smeltink, Netherlands and exhibited by Leestensch Hof VOF, the performances of this large-framed stallion were characterized by a natural suppleness in combination with a lot of power and drive.
The title of Champion Stallion in the Precious Blood Haflinger lot went to a descendant of the stallion Manu out of a dam by Alibaba. He was bred by Beate and Georg Berchtold, Pähl and exhibited by Sonja Veerkamp-Rabbermann and Dirk Rabbermann, Vlotho. In the hand of his owner, the stallion impressed with an impressive side view, a lot of body movement and an imposing front horse. He can also call himself a “premium stallion candidate” in the future.
Once again, a joint stallion show organized by OHD e.V. and the Westphalian Studbook rounded off the event. A large selection of interesting stallions presented themselves to the breeders and attracted interest from beyond the region.
