During the mare show season from June to August, the judging panel visits a large number of show venues throughout Westphalia and beyond.

At the mare and foal shows, our breeders’ youngest hopefuls have the opportunity to present themselves on the triangle to the public and the Westphalian judging panel. After each class, the foals are placed and the judges give their comments. In addition, every foal receives a linear profile, which makes the assessment more transparent and easier to understand. Breeders can view the linear profile in their WestfalenOnline account shortly after the show or request it from our head office.

Registration for the foal show can be made via WestfalenOnline or by e-mail to stutenschauanmeldung(ät)westfalenpferde.de (registration form in the download area).

Video service
As in previous years, our mare shows will once again be broadcasted live by rimondo, with the kind support of our partner Derby. As a breeder, you will receive a voucher for downloading the video at the registration van. In addition, all videos from the various show venues are published on www.rimondo.com.

Registration procedure
At every show you will find our registration van close to the show ring. After your mare or foal has been presented, please come to the registration van with your horse(s) and all documents (e.g. the foaling report form and the mare’s equine passport). There, the foals are microchipped and their markings are recorded. Depending on the breed and the occasion, a hair sample is also taken for parentage verification. Please note that all fees must be paid on site in cash, by cheque or by debit card. Details of the fees can be found in our schedule of fees.

If you want to market your foal via one of the Westphalian foal auctions, we recommend that you present your foal at a selection appointment in Münster-Handorf. At the same time, a movement and pavement video will be produced, which can be purchased afterwards. In addition, your foal will be registered directly after the presentation. It is therefore important to bring the foal registration with you to this appointment. 

Upcoming selection dates for foal auctions

Outside the mare and foal show season, you have the opportunity to come to the Münster-Handorf Horse Centre on the first Wednesday of every month at 2 pm to have your foal registered. Registrations can be made via WestfalenOnline and the studbook department.

On-site appointments, where foals are registered at the breeder's premises, are also in great demand. Please request your appointment informally, ideally by mid-July, stating where the horses are located and the phone number of the owner (member). The registration team will then plan a route and let you know the exact time one to two weeks before the appointment. Please make sure you have all the necessary documents to hand and ready on the registration day, including the foaling report form, the mare's equine passport and the keeper's registration number. As usual, the Westphalian Foal Tour takes place at the end of August each year. It offers assessments of foals, basic assessments of mares and assessments of 3- and 4-year-old young horses (by IPZV assessors), as well as foal registration and Mare Book entry (by the Westphalian Studbook).
