In addition to the conventional “paper foaling report”, the foal’s birth can also be reported online before the registration appointment.

How the standard foaling report works

The foaling report is based on the covering certificate. After your mare has been covered, present the certificate to the stallion owner, who will then report the covering to the Westphalian Studbook.

Your foaling report form is sent to you automatically
At the beginning of each year, we send the foaling report forms for all reported coverings directly to the breeders. The form consists of two parts.

Part 1: Report the birth to us
Within the first four weeks after the birth, fill in the first part of the form and send it to the Westphalian Studbook. Alternatively, you can report the birth online (see above) or by phone.

Part 2: Bring it to the registration
Keep the second part of the form in a safe place. It must be presented when your foal is registered – whether at a mare and foal show, an on-site appointment, a registration appointment at the Westphalian Equine Centre or a selection day for the foal auctions. Please also have the mare’s equine passport and the keeper’s registration number ready for the appointment.

Please note:
The online foaling report does not yet replace the paper foaling report. For the time being, the paper form remains an important document for foal registration and must still be presented at the registration appointment.
