The 20th NRW main licensing for cold-blooded stallions at the Westphalian Horse Center was well attended this Saturday. It was the prelude to the upcoming licensing days. The 15 cold-blooded stallions, three of which were shown for approval, first presented themselves in bright sunshine and frosty temperatures on the triangular track. Breeding director Katrin Tosberg was assisted in judging the cold-blooded stallions by Rudolf Brocks, Warendorf, Hubert Faßbender, Kerpen-Sindorf, Gerhard Hegemann, Hamm, and Alexander Thoenes, Würselen. Of the three cold-blooded stallions presented for approval, all were approved for the Rhenish and Westphalian breeding programs.
Five of the 12 stallions that competed for the licensing were given a positive licensing decision by the commission. The Champion Stallion 2024 is now a son from the first crop of the Champion Stallion 2020 Fantus out of St.Pr.St. Heidi by Higgins (breeder: Heinz Kussmann, Olsberg; exhibitor: Claus Kussmann, Olsberg). The large-framed and typey chestnut stallion scored with a harmonious side profile and correct foundation. The Fantus son also showed generous scope in his movements and excellent interior scores in all presentations. The son of Adoro II /Herbert (breeder and exhibitor: ZG Siegfried and Alexander Biegel, Harsewinkel) was named 1st Reserve Champion. The expressive stallion particularly impressed the licensing committee with his movement. Breeding director Katrin Tosberg attested to the bay stallion's relaxed, balanced trot movement that flows through the body. Alexander Biegel was not only delighted with the reserve victory, but also with the award for best handler.
The licensing day was rounded off with a varied show program. Here, Heinrich Meyer zu Hücker showed the NRW Champion Mare of 2024, Adora by Augustus/Adoro I. The Warendorf State Stud gave a foretaste of the Federal Cold Blood Show at the Green Week with two cold blood stallions each in the ridden driving school - the Champion Stallion 2023 Opalius also presented himself from his best side in this show. A Rhenish-German cold-blooded horse in liberty dressage, a Black Forest horse ridden with a neck ring and a Christmas show of ridden and driven Dülmen horses completed the program. The traditional raffle of the cold-blooded colt took place at the end.
