For Pleasure, Chacco-Blue, Emerald van het Ruytershof, or Darry Lou: The pedigrees of the foals set to go under the auction hammer on September 26 at Schönbrunn Palace feature some of the biggest names in international equestrian sports. Twelve selected warmblood foals will take the stage at the Longines Global Champions Tour Vienna, where the world’s top show jumpers and dressage riders are already competing this weekend.
They are still in the very early stages of their development. Yet their pedigrees offer the best possible foundation: proven dam lines and internationally successful performance lines. In terms of breeding, the spectrum ranges from internationally renowned show jumping lines to dressage.
It is precisely this connection between breeding and elite sport that makes the auction special. On the course, fully trained sport horses demonstrate what talent, education, and training can achieve over the years. For the foals, this journey is just beginning.
Kaiser Franz Joseph for a good cause
The Shetland pony Finkstone’s Jetset plays a special role. The community was able to vote on his nickname via the Longines Global Champions Tour Vienna’s social media channels. The choice fell on Emperor Franz Joseph—a fitting tribute to the historic setting of Schönbrunn Palace, which the emperor made his favorite residence and called home for many years. The skewbald colt will be auctioned off for charity outside of the warmblood collection. All proceeds from his auction will benefit the Lichtblickhof children’s hospice.
