Warendorf: For the first time, the Westphalian Studbook and the Trakehner Association joined forces for a joint foal auction. The event took place this evening at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf. With an average price of 12,113 euros, 86 percent of the foals changed hands. The celebrated top-priced lot was the Trakehner filly Schwalbenfeuer. The daughter of Millennium sold for 48,000 euros.
Following the successful premiere of a foal auction at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf in 2025, there was another first this year: the Westphalian Studbook and the Trakehner Association joined forces to stage a joint foal auction. A total of 36 young talents from the two breeding associations were offered for sale, with 31 successfully finding new owners.
The celebrated top price of the evening was a Trakehner foal with head number 3. Schwalbenfeuer, a daughter of Millennium (breeder and exhibitor: Bernhard Langels, Bismarck), delighted the audience in the beautifully prepared arena at the State Stud in Warendorf. Her dam, Schwalbenkönigin by High Motion, completed her mare performance test with an outstanding final score of 9.16. She is also the sister of two dressage horses successful at advanced level. Sold for the auction’s top price of 48,000 euros, the beautiful brown filly will remain in Germany.
The Westphalian foals were equally popular. Here, too, the top price exceeded the 40,000-euro mark. With head number 27, spectators had to wait a little longer for this special foal. The son of German Bundeschampion Viva Vitalis immediately attracted attention with his impressive presence. His dam, Feenzauber by Fidertanz, was herself successful in competitions before beginning her career as a broodmare. The prospects for a successful future are bright for Vincent (breeder and exhibitor: Bernd Schuckenberg, Warendorf), who descends from the dam line of World Cup winner Damon Hill NRW. Auctioneer Thomas Münch brought the hammer down at 42,000 euros.
Three pony foals completed the high-quality lot. Particularly popular was catalogue number 17. Gucci Royal GH by Gold Garant/FS Numero Uno NRW (breeder and exhibitor: Charlotte Hentemann, Damme) impressed with a series of fantastic appearances. In the end, the colt was sold for 16,000 euros.
The organisers were highly satisfied with the overall result of the auction. At the end of the evening, Thomas Münch and Richard Langels agreed that this auction format should definitely be repeated. In total, the two associations generated a turnover of 375,500 euros from the foals sold. International buyers invested an average of 12,113 euros in the 31 foals sold, with 15 lots exceeding the 10,000-euro mark.
