Premiere: Westphalian Studbook and Trakehner Association Launch First Joint Foal Auction

Two traditional breeding associations, one shared vision: on August 26, the Westphalian Studbook and the Trakehner Association will host their first joint foal auction at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf.

For many years, the Trakehners have been welcome guests at the Westphalian Studbook facilities in Münster-Handorf with events such as the Spring Licensing and the National Championships. What began as a close partnership has now developed into a joint project. Built on years of trust and successful cooperation, this collaboration is reaching a new milestone with a shared foal auction.

To mark the opening of the Bundeschampionat, the historic riding hall of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud will open its doors for this special premiere. In a unique atmosphere, the finest young prospects from two of Germany’s most important breeding associations will be presented to an international audience of breeders, riders, and horse enthusiasts. Last year, the Westphalian Studbook already celebrated a successful auction debut at this prestigious venue, and now this success story will continue together.

“I am very pleased that this year we will welcome the Trakehner Association as a partner for our foal auction at the State Stud. By joining forces, we will be able to create a top-class event. I am convinced that our vendors and buyers will complement each other perfectly, and I look forward to an atmospheric auction full of emotions and exciting bidding duels,” says Thomas Münch, Head of Auctions and Marketing at the Westphalian Studbook.

Richard Langels, Head of Auctions and Marketing at the Trakehner Association, adds: “Our long-standing and trusting cooperation with the Westphalian Studbook, along with the successful foal auctions held during the Trakehner National Championships in Münster-Handorf, which have gained almost cult status thanks in no small part to Thomas Münch at the auction podium, laid the foundation for this new format. For the Trakehner Association, this is the first joint auction with another breeding association, which is why we are eagerly anticipating this premiere and are convinced that it will inspire many horse enthusiasts.”

Visitors can look forward to an evening filled with quality, emotion, and breeding highlights, where the next generation of promising sport horses will be presented for the first time in this shared setting.
