Wettringen: The first Westphalian foal auction held at the Beckmann Stallion Station proved to be a tremendous success. Every foal offered during the evening found a new owner, resulting in a 100 percent sales rate. With a total turnover of 362,000 euros, the Westphalian Studbook was highly satisfied with the outcome. The top-priced lot of the evening was catalogue number 2, a son of the rising star Grey Tonic. The colt was sold for 70,000 euros.
For the first time, a Westphalian foal auction took place as part of the popular foal show at the Beckmann Stallion Station. A total of 24 high-quality young talents were presented in the auction collection, including three riding pony foals and two show jumping-bred riding horse foals. The premiere hosted by Mathieu Beckmann attracted strong interest from breeders and prospective buyers alike. More than 800 visitors attended to follow the auction under floodlights, conducted by auctioneer Thomas Münch.
To open the auction, a wooden horse was auctioned for charity. A total of 30,000 euros was raised through contributions from various supporters. The proceeds will be donated to the Caritas workshops in Langenhorst.
The OnLive auction opened with a son of the legendary station stallion Benicio. The striking chestnut colt (breeder and exhibitor: Mareike Mimberg, Bielefeld), out of Samantha by Sandro Hit, appeared very much in the style of his sire. Bester Peter was sold for 29,000 euros to buyers from the Netherlands, who placed their bids live on site
Catalogue number 2 then entered the auction ring — a very special foal. Grey’s Greenflag is a son of Beckmann Stallion Station’s current rising star, Grey Tonic, the stallion who created great excitement during the stallion presentations earlier this year. His first foal vintage is now proving that he passes on his remarkable qualities. Celine Pruß from Mettingen bred the bay colt out of Shari H by Sir Heinrich and exhibited him at the auction. In an exciting bidding duell among buyers attending on site, the owners of Grey Tonic had the strongest determination and secured the colt for the outstanding top price of 70,000 euros. In addition to this price leader, two more foals from the auction will also move to 360 Grad Sportpferde.
Three riding pony foals by stallions from the partner station AT Schurf were also offered in this auction collection. All three found new owners at an average price of 11,333 euros. The highest-priced riding pony foal will in future be based in Great Britain. Catalogue number 15, Destino by Denim AT out of Merlin (breeder and exhibitor: Nicole Sturm, Genthin), was sold to his new owners for 19,500 euros.
The show jumping section was represented by two offspring of former Westphalian Champion Stallion Con Touch RS from the partner station Schlamminger. For 12,000 euros, the stallion station secured catalogue number 12, Count on Me by Con Touch RS out of Balous Bellini (breeder and exhibitor: Hubert Waning, Vreden)
Altogether, 24 foals of the 2026 vintage were offered in this OnLive auction. Buyers attending on site and online invested an average of 15,619 euros per riding horse foal sold. The auction generated a total turnover of 362,000 euros for the Westphalian Studbook. Five of the sold foals will in future be based outside of Germany. Host Matthieu Beckmann concluded the event after almost two hours of auctioning with the words: "I would like to sincerely thank all breeders who followed my idea and participated in this event. I wish all buyers every success and enjoyment with their new foals. We are already looking forward to the second edition in 2027."
